Head Coach: Terry Shea
Coach Terry Shea brings more than 50 years of coaching experience to MLFB. His coaching resume is full of enough experiences to span multiple careers and he has a proven track record at all levels of football.
Shea started his head coaching early as the Head Coach at San Jose State in 1990. While at SJSU his offenses were prolific and finished as top-twelve offenses both years. During his tenure, he coached up multiple players to being NFL Draft Picks and those players went on to solid careers in the NFL.
In 1992 Shea left San Jose State to work with Bill Walsh at Stanford as his offensive coordinator. During Shea’s tenure on the offensive staff, Stanford saw thirteen offensive players arrive in the NFL and have extended careers. After three years as offensive coordinator under Walsh and developing his coaching credentials, Shea headed to the CFL to be the quarterback coach for the British Columbia Lions for one season.
After one season with the BC Lions, Shea was hired to be the head coach at Rutgers. While at Rutgers, Shea modernized the Scarlet Knights’ offense and improved their passing efficiency every year he was at the helm. In addition, Shea also began to develop a reputation as a quarterback guru and coach who could develop quarterbacks to be pro-ready prospects.
From 2001 to 2008, Shea worked with the Chiefs, Bears, Dolphins, and Rams where he coached several quarterbacks to 4,000-yard seasons. After the 2008 season, Shea focused on developing young talent and worked with first-round picks like Robert Griffin III and Super Bowl Champion Matt Stafford.
Since 2011 Shea has also gained experience in several startup leagues in various roles. In 2011 he joined the Virginia Destroyers of the United Football League as their Offensive Coordinator and was a Head Coach for two seasons in the Fall Experimental Football League. He also worked in The Spring League and was a head coach from 2017 to 2021 and was most recently with the Aviators of that league.
Coach Shea brings a professional offensive pedigree and a proven track record of developing top-tier offensive talent into professional-caliber players.
Coach Terry Shea on why MLFB “It’s all for the player. Their exposure and evaluation. The opportunity to develop his football skills at the professional level, and then have the stage to showcase his development in a competitive football environment against other professional players. This experience affords the MLFB play to be evaluated on video by professional personnel.“
